Billy Scafuri is a writer with 10 Sports Emmy nominations and 3 Sports Emmy wins. Regularly tapped to oversee the creative on sports and celebrity-driven campaigns, Billy has written high profile, branded collaborations for Tom Cruise, John Malkovich, Sylvester Stallone, Ryan Reynolds, Michael Keaton, Jane Krakowski and many more iconic actors. He is often hired to develop and deliver concepts, scripts and copy for large scale sports media companies including the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, NWSL, Prime Video and CAA Sports. His script for CBS Sports and the 2018 AFC Championship, “Teasing John Malkovich,” earned him the prestigious Dick Schaap Outstanding Writing Award and a Gold Lion at Cannes.
Billy has a reputation as a comedian for writing clean and clever comedy. He has an acute understanding of what clients and companies are looking for, a team-oriented approach to creating the most dynamic work possible and a strong ability to execute. His 20 years as a sketch comedian, with the award winning group Harvard Sailing Team, has trained him to be a team player throughout the creative process. Variety Magazine named Harvard Sailing Team a “Comedian to Watch”, they’ve been reviewed in the New York Times, sold a show to ABC Family, written and performed countless commercials and their YouTube page has earned them tens of millions of views.
On the television side, Billy has been a staff writer on multiple seasons of the international hit car show, “Top Gear,” as well as on the CBS primetime game show, “Game On” and TruTV’s “Talk Show the Game Show.” Recently, he has written the opening short films for the 2022 Men’s World Cup, Super Bowl 53, Super Bowl 58, launched Thursday Night Football on Prime Video and directed a 12-episode unscripted series starring comedians, Jake and Amir. He currently serves as the showrunner on The Re-Cap Show, hosted by 2x World Cup champions Tobin Heath and Christen Press. Billy continues to write, produce and direct for a wide variety of clients while producing his own work and podcasts.
